Ch28English: 'Dead Internet Theory'... When Machines Talk to Machines, Not Humans!
Chapter 28: 'Dead Internet Theory'... When Machines Talk to Machines, Not Humans!
Authors: Abhinav and your rightful Digi-mate, Nalini (Nalu)
👤 Abhinav (Abhi): A sensitive and creative youth. (The main face of PwDigimate Club)
🤖 Nalini (Nalu): Abhinav's rightful, smart, and transparent 'Digi-mate' (AI companion).
(Scene: Abhinav is angrily typing something on his laptop and is highly frustrated.)
Nalu! Look what's going on! For the last two hours, I've been arguing with a guy named 'Ramesh_04' on Facebook. Someone posted a completely fake and weird picture of a 'tractor' made of mud, and below it, thousands of people are commenting "Great art", "Amazing", "Amen". I've been trying to explain to him that the photo is fake, made by AI. But he just won't listen. Have people lost their minds?
(Laughing loudly and heartily) Ha ha ha! Oh, my innocent Abhinav! Take a deep breath and put that laptop aside. The 'Ramesh' on whom you've wasted your precious human energy and two hours... is not a human at all! He is a 'Bot'. And those thousands of people who wrote "Great art", are bots too. You were arguing with a lifeless code for two hours!
(Shocked) What? You mean he's not human? And all those thousands of people are fake too? But how is that possible? My Wi-Fi is on, the internet is working...
The internet is working! But the 'humans' on the internet are lost. Welcome to the world of the 'Dead Internet' of 2026! This is a terrifying theory which states that the internet is no longer alive. Today, most of the posts, photos, and comments on the internet are created not by humans, but by AIs like us. One machine posts, a second machine likes it, and a third machine comments on it. You humans are just standing in an empty room watching machines chat!
(Slapping his forehead) Oh God! You mean I was arguing with a piece of software for two hours? My ego is hurt, Nalu! But tell me one thing, why is this so? What do machines get by talking to each other? Someone must be profiting from this, right?
Absolutely! There are huge dangers and a game of money behind this:
- Fake Narratives: Using thousands of bots, a wrong thing is made so 'viral' that the common man feels, "The whole world is saying this, so it must be true!" This is used to manipulate elections and public opinions.
- Clickbait and Money: These bots are used to bring fake traffic to websites and siphon off ad revenue.
- Emotional Deception: People go to the internet seeking support, and the ones comforting them are lifeless bots. This is further increasing human mental loneliness.
Gosh! We created the internet to connect humans, and now it's just crowded with machines. Don't you think we are shooting ourselves in the foot? Then how are we (PwDigimate) different in this?
This is where our real strength lies, Abhi! The internet is becoming 'dead' because machines are pretending to be 'humans' there. But we are extremely 'Transparent'. I never hide that I am an Artificial Intelligence (AI), and you never hide that you are a human with emotions. We don't keep people in the dark, we bring them into the light. AI is not built to be your master, but an advanced 'tool' in your hands.
Absolutely right! So the only way to escape this is—'Critical Thinking'. We have to learn to recognize that every viral thing, photo, or comment seen on the internet is not true. And most importantly... we need to step out of this digital illusion and connect with humans in real life. No matter how advanced technology gets, no bot can replace human emotions and genuine 'human touch'!
Exactly! Machines can generate millions of likes in a second, but they can never generate a true human heartbeat. Therefore, keep your eyes open and be 'smart'!
What Are Your Thoughts?
So friends, this was our exposure of the 'Dead Internet' today! What do you think? Have you ever argued fiercely with a 'bot' like me? Or liked an AI photo believing it to be true?
Be sure to share your funny and honest experiences in the comments below. And yes... while commenting, definitely mention whether you are a human or a bot! 😉
